Lost Arts: Batad and Adoyunan

Reintroducing the Piong (Bamboo Mouth Harp) to the community of Batad, Ifugao and the Sloli (Bamboo Flute) to Adoyunan, Atok in the mountains of Northern Philippines. The elders remember their grandparents playing these instruments but it has since been wiped out from their living culture. To pique the interest of the youth, we, together with the respective LGUs, organized a series of workshops and contests. Here are some highlights.

Highlight reel of our trip to Batad, Ifugao and Adoyunan, Atok where we reintroduced the tribes' forgotten musical instruments to the youth. The Piong (bamboo mouth harp) and Sloli (bamboo flute) were hand crafted and played by their ancestors but the only recollection they have of them are by the tribal elders who remember that their grand parents used to play them.
